A Tour of Rousham
After posting the decaying plaster sculpture yesterday I thought I would run a tour of the garden over the next two or three days. Today’s crop takes us from the house where we look out over the Cherwell at the Mill (that I posted a while back close up) that Kent remodelled as if part of the garden and placed the Eye Catcher up on the distant hill to similar effect. Our route takes us along the ha-ha that keeps animals out of the park without interrupting the view and out to the Cow Castle, a cow shed elaborated thematically as part of the park. The elaborate gate was where visitors could enter the garden without disturbing the house. We will dive into more mysterious parts tomorrow. The Dying Gaul sits on a terrace we do not suspect but appears for us later on.
